1. What is an electroencephalogram (EEG) headband?

The electroencephalogram (EEG) headband represents the patterns of brain electrical activity recorded by electrodes on the scalp. During sleep, delta waves predominate, associated with deep sleep. This analysis of frequency bands is essential for identifying sleep disorders, such as insomnia.

By examining the specific characteristics of brain waves during sleep, healthcare professionals can diagnose and guide treatment strategies to improve sleep quality and address health problems associated with sleep disorders.

2. What does "Signal" of the headband means?

The headband signal represents perfusion index (PI) that captures vital signs and brain waves. The higher this index, or the track signal, the better the signal, and the more accurate the data captured. Positioning the track correctly ensures that the signal is suitable for more accurate results.

3. What sleep data can the headband capture?

"- Registration Start Date and Time
- Registration End Date and Time
- Total registration time (TTR)
- Total sleep time (TTS)
- Latency to sleep onset
- Latency for REM sleep
- Time awake after falling asleep
- Sleep Efficiency (TTS/TTR x 100)
- Sleep Stages (Duration and % in TTS):  N1 (Falling asleep), N2 (Light Sleep), N3 (Deep Sleep), REM Sleep and Wakefulness (Awakenings).
- Total REM sleep time
- Total NREM sleep time
- Total awakenings
- Average number of wake-ups per hour

4. How does EEG reading work with the headband?

Upon receiving the SleepUp EEG headband through purchase, examination, or from a certified healthcare professional, you can wear it while sleeping at night. Simply turn it on using the button, position it correctly on your head (with the central unit centered on your forehead, the conductive pads above your ears, and your hair pulled back or tied up to avoid signal interference). You will need to download the SleepUp app, pair the device via Bluetooth, and start the readings manually through the app. Once the reading is initiated, the headband works independently of the phone or app. The headband will capture your sleep data and store it locally. Later, you can upload it to view within the SleepUp app.

5. How to turn the headband on and off?

To turn on the headband, press the on/off switch and check that the blue LED is flashing every 1 second, indicating that it is ready for connection. To turn it off, simply press the on/off switch again until all LEDs go out.

6. What do the headband LEDs indicate?

- Blue LED flashing every 1 second: waiting for Bluetooth connection.
- Blue LED on without blinking: connected via Bluetooth, no reading in progress.
- Blue LED flashing every 5 seconds: reading in progress.
- Green LED on: strip is being charged, the LED goes off when charging is complete.
- Red LED on: battery equal to or less than 20%, it is recommended to charge it."

7. How do I pair the headband with the SleepUp app?

1. Turn on the headband and open the SleepUp app.

2. On the app's home screen, access the “EEG Monitoring” section.

3. Follow the instructions to pair the headband via Bluetooth. The blue LED will light up steadily when pairing is successful."

8. Can I use the EEG headband without the SleepUp app?

No, you need to download the app, pair via Bluetooth and start readings manually through the app. Once reading has started, the headband works independently of the phone or application.

9. How to take readings using the EEG headband?

1. Place the headband on your head, with the sensor (plate) centered on your forehead and the conductive fabrics above your ears.

2. Connect to the app via Bluetooth and select ""Start reading"".

3. The blue LED will flash every 5 seconds, indicating that reading has started.

4. Sleep with the headband for at least 4 hours and, after reading, turn off the headband."

10. What to do if the headband doesn't turn on or charge?

Check that the on/off switch is in the correct position. If the LEDs do not light, try adjusting the LED mode in the application settings or reload the headband.

11. What is the recommended usage time?

We recommend using it for at least 6 hours for the most accurate results. To be able to generate a report with personalized guidelines, it is mandatory to use it for at least 4 hours at night.

12. How do I position the Headband on my head?

Place the headband on your head, with the sensor (plate) centered on your forehead and the conductive fabrics above your ears. Fasten the buckle or velcro firmly so that the band does not come off during use.

13. Do I need to leave my phone or Bluetooth turned on while I sleep?

After the recording starts using the app, you can disconnect Bluetooth or turn off your phone without interrupting the reading. Recording will continue normally.

14. Is it possible to change the brightness of the LEDs or turn them off?

Yes, in the "EEG Monitoring" section, select the gear icon in the top right corner and in "Configure LEDs", define the brightness of the LEDs or whether they will be on/off during the reading.

15. How do I end a reading with the headband?

To end a reading with the headband, simply turn it off using the power switch located at the bottom of the sensor. If the battery runs out, the reading will be saved up until the point when the battery is depleted.

16. What should I do if the headband turns off in the middle of reading?

You don't need to do anything. The headband will store the reading until it is turned off, and you can choose to upload it to the app.

17. How do I upload my readings to view on the app?

1. Connect the headband to the app via Bluetooth.

2. In the app, click on “Load Track Readings” and wait for the process, which can last around 20 minutes.

3. Make sure the Track has at least 40% battery to avoid interruptions."

18. How to check the headband's battery level?

The battery level can be checked by checking the Bluetooth connection status in the SleepUp app. If the battery is below 20%, the red LED will light up.

19. What is the minimum charge required to start a recording?

To start a recording, the EEG headband must be at least 80% charged.

20. How to clean and care for the EEG headband?

Keep the headband clean and dry. Use a damp cloth to clean the fabric. Store it in the original box to avoid dust and moisture. Avoid falls and impacts.

21. Where can I buy replacement headbands?

New headbands can be purchased separately. Contact SleepUp technical support for information about purchasing accessories.

22. How to solve pairing problems with the app?

Make sure your device's Bluetooth is turned on. If the problem persists, restart the application and try pairing again.

23. How do I restore the EEG headband to factory settings?

To restore the EEG Headband to factory settings, access the “EEG Monitoring” menu in the SleepUp app and click the gear icon in the top left. Choose the “Reset Device” option.
